UNESCO Executive Board announced on the 17th that China's Jiuhua Mountain Geopark and Yimeng Mountain Geopark have been officially approved to be included in the World Geopark Network.

UNESCO announced on the same day that eight geological heritages in seven countries including China, Chile, Croatia, Ecuador, Spain, Norway and Peru were officially included in the UNESCO World Geoparks Network, which includes the two geological parks in China. Uptill now, the total number of parks included in the World Geoparks Network has risen to 147, from 41 countries and regions.

Located in Qingyang County, Chizhou City, Anhui Province, Jiuhua Mountain Geopark is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China. It is characterized by Buddhist culture and wonderful natural scenery. Due to the special vertical joint development of granite, coupled with long-term rain erosion, weathering erosion and other external forces, it forms mountainous landform of high peaks, cliffs,  and jagged rocks.

Yimeng Mountain Geopark is in Linyi City, Shandong Province, which is composed of Mengshan Park, Diamond Park, Daigu Park, Menglianggu Park and Yunmeng Lake Park. It is home to China's earliest primary kimberlite-type diamond mine, which has produced 1.8 million carats of diamonds.
