Suzhou, a historical city nearby the Shanghai, is widely known for its classic gardens, canals, silks, lakes, operas, legends and museums. This one day tour will take you to taste full-view of this city. You'll start with the best of Suzhou's many famed gardens, the Garden of the Master of Nets, Suzhou History Museum before experiencing the magic of silk-making from start to finish at the Suzhou No. 1 Silk Factory. Afternoon visit to Lion Grove Garden, also named Shizilin Si, is famous for its rockery, which is mostly made of limestone taken from Taihu lake. There is a saying going like this "if you didn’t visit the Shantang Street, then you Miss Suzhou's full view. Shantang Street will trace you back the original life of ancient Suzhou.
Itinerary
You will be picked up from your hotel in Shanghai by the driver and the guide at 7:30AM.Driving about 2 hours, we will get to Suzhou, heaven for classical Chinese gardens. We will go to see Lion Grove Garden (1 hour).It is one of the four most famous and representative gardens of ancient classical style in Suzhou City. The other three are Blue Wave Pavilion (Canglangta), Lingering Garden (Liuyuan) and Humble Administrator's Garden (Zhuozhengyuan).Then we will go to Suzhou Museum and General Zhong Former Residence (1 hour) .The current building of Suzhou Museum was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei in association with Pei Partnership Architects. We proceed to Ancient Suzhou Silk Museum (40 minutes) to see how cocoon turns into silk. Lunch (1 hour) will be arranged in a local restaurant. After lunch, we will visit Master-of-Nets Garden.(1 hour) It is the smallest of the Suzhou residential gardens, yet it is the most impressive because of its use of space which creates the illusion of an area that is much greater than its actual size. Even more than the architectural achievement is the mood of tranquility and harmony that it embodies. Finally we will wall around Shantang Ancient Street. (1 hour) Shantang Street was built during the period of Baoli Emperor in the Tang Dynasty. Connecting the prosperous business area Lvmen with the famous attraction Huqiu Mountain. The street was a critical distribution of the commodities and landscape at ancient times. Tour ends when you are dropped off at your hotel in Shanghai before 6:00PM.
