Taxi
The basic taxi fare in Changsha is eight yuan plus 1.6 or 1.8 yuan for each kilometer traveled. For trips exceeding ten kilometers the rate per kilometer rises to 2.4 or 2.7 yuan. This extra charge is to cover the cost of the taxi's return to its starting point. Night time rates apply between 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. next day and these are generally 20% higher than the basic fares. It is always best to ask for a quotation of the total cost prior to commencing the journey.
