Guizhou Province is famous for its magnificent sceneries and brilliant minority culture. 49 ethnic groups are living in Guizhou. We bring to focus on Qiandongnan Miao & Dong Minority culture and folk customs, which is concentrated in the southeast part of Yunnan and Guizhou Plateau. Minority people's brightness in constructing magnificent wooden houses and bridges without a nail will surprise you. Also you marvel at their delicate handicrafts, exquisite costumes and clever inventions. Then head for Longsheng, to admire the spectacular rice terrace fields, to explore more at local minority villages. Our tour ends in Guilin. Day 1: Shanghai-Guiyang

Today you fly to Guiyang from Shanghai. Upon your arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. 

Guiyang situates in southwest China with a population of about 3.5 million. And 65% of population is Han and the rest a mixture of minorities such as Miao, Bouyei, Dong, Yi, Shui, Hui, Gelao, Zhuang, Yao, Bai, Tujia, etc. Miao minority ethnic group takes up the majority of the population, while less populous are the Bouyei, the Dong, and the Tujia. Since it has beautiful scenery, pleasant climate and abundant tourist resources, it is a developing tourist resort of China. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free at relax.

Day 2: Guiyang-Xijiang Miao Village

Today we will depart Guiyang for [Xijiang Thousand-household Miao Village]. It is about 3 hour drive before we get there. The village has an elegant environment because it is circled by green mountains and a small crystal clear stream. The rows upon row of roofed wooden bridges are called "Wind and rain" bridges by the locals. They stretch over the stream and making a picturesque scene. Diaojioa Building has distinct ethnic characteristics, the Diaojiao Building with graceful roof and wide galley are differ from other ancient ethnic buildings, and get rid of the primitiveness. So it has a higher level of culture vividly represent the minority culture. Xijiang Village has a population of nearly six thousand, and about one thousand households, making it one of the largest Miao villages, though technically it is comprised of eight smaller villages located close to one another. Colorful and exquisite minority costumes can be found in this village. Their graceful songs, their traditions and cultures will surely impress you. Lunch will be arranged in a local restaurant, where we will have opportunity to taste the special sour fish dishes. And you can spend the rest of the day to explore this charming village yourself.

Day 3: Xijiang Miao Village-Rongjiang

This morning we will leave Xijiang Village for Rongjiang. Then we will visit the [Leigong Mountain] which Locates 15 kilometers (nine miles) east of Kaili. Leigong Mountain is the most fascinating scenic area of the Miaoling Mountains. Because of its abundance of overlapping mountain ridges, flourishing verdant plants, precious and rare animals, and valuable historical war remains, it gained its reputation as a National Nature Reserve. When you see the sight of a large number of rare animals wandering among the virgin forests, you may feel that you are back to nature.  

After the Leigong Mountain, we will continue to drive (for about 5 hours) to Rongjiang.

Day 4: Rongjiang-Congjiang-Zhaoxing

Today we will go to explore the Congjiang. It will take us 3 hour to drive from Rongjaing to Congjiang. Upon arrival at Congjiang County Town, we will directly go to explore the [Biasha Miao Village]. It is a special and old Miao Ethnic village that is little disturbed by violent and noisy modernization. It is a place where ancient culture is most completely protected, and this group is quite different from other Miao groups in terms of clothing and daily life. In this village, people are legal to have hunting guns.  

In the afternoon, we will drive to Zhaoxing Dong Village (about 1.5 hours). [Zhaoxing Dong Village] is the largest Dong village in China. And it is also called as Qianhu (meaning a thousand households) Dong Village because about 1,000 households of Dong people live here. This magnificent wood-structure complex will surprise you.

Zhaoxing village is also a cradle of Dong festivals and dances. So you will also have chance to explore the splendid culture there..

Day 5: Zhaoxing-Sanjiang

This morning we depart Zhaoxing Village for Sanjiang. [Tang'an Dong Village] (6 km from Zhaoxing) will be our first stop. It is renowned as the "most primitive Dong Village" in China. There are many things waiting for you to explore such as village gates, drum tower, drama tower, and ancient graveyard, ancient well etc. you can also see water-powered roller for grinding grain, barns and the pit to worship the female ancestors of Dong people there. Besides, ancient stone paths and wood houses still exist in the village. All of these make it a perfect place for people to return to nature.  

Afterwards, we will leave for Sanjiang (about 3 hours) to visit the [Chenyang Wind and Rain Bridge], which is a pure wooden architecture made up of pillars, purlins and balusters of different sizes and shapes. This project really well reflects the wisdom of local people because the entire bridge is made of wood with mortise and tenant joints & without any iron nails. These magnificent structures are typical example of how Dong culture influences the history of this area.

Day 6: Sanjiang-Longji

This morning we depart from Sangjiang, driving to Longsheng County (about 1.5 hours). We will stop in town to visit a [local market]. And then we will keep driving for roughly 40 minutes to Ping’an Zhuang Villlage where you will have the opportunity to see magnificent [Longji terraced rice paddies]. It locates in Heping Township, Longsheng County. There you can take some wonderful pictures of minority people wearing exquisite costumes along the way. The terraced fields scatter between the heights of 300 meters (about 984 feet) to 1,100 meters (about 3 608 feet )above sea level and the slope angles are between 26 to 35 degrees, and the biggest angle is 50 degrees. The Longji Rice Terraces is a beautiful natural picture, and the beauty of rice terraces vary from season to season. This ingenious construction makes best use of the scare arable land and water resources in the mountainous area.

Day 7: Longji-Guilin

In the morning, you can explore this village and its area yourself. After lunch, we go downhill to take our van/bus to go to the city of Guilin. And we will also pay a visit to the [Huangluo Red Yao Village], where all women keep their hair to a length of more than one meter. Their impressive characteristic red costumes will be a feast for your eyes.  

Upon your arrival in Guilin City, you are transferred to the hotel, enjoy a leisure afternoon..

Day 8: Guilin-Yangshuo

Today let’s start [Li River cruise]. The Li River enjoys the great reputation for its fine views: fragrant waters, legendary grottoes, verdant mountains, and delicate rocks. When you cruising down the Li River, you can sit on cushion comfortably or enjoy the open-air viewing platform. Due to its breathtaking scenery and taste of a life far removed from the concrete metropolis, the scenery along the Li River become one of China's top tourist destinations. Lunch will be served onboard. When we arrive in Yangshuo, we will take a walk in West Street, which has received countless foreigners from all over the world and reputed as "Global Village in China". Here's bars, restaurants, cafes, craft shops, painting mostly are decorated Chinese and Western, and they all have English signs. West Street is a terrific place to take a rest both physically and psychologically. West Street will drive all of your pressures and burdens away, and give you a calmer view of life.  

You can arrange your own time in the afternoon. You can enjoy a coffee time in the West Street, or walk around the small Yangshuo town.

Day 9: Yangshuo-Guilin

In the morning, we will drive back to Guilin city, which is famous for its wonderful scenery, rivers and karst peaks covered in lush greenery. When we arrive in Guilin city town, we will visit the [Elephant Trunk Hill] first. It is the symbol of Guilin, and it looks like an elephant standing in the Li River and drinking water from the river. The [Reed Flute Cave] is our second stop, one of the most spectacular caves displaying karst geographical formation in various shapes. After the visit, let’s continue to the nearby [South China Sea Pearl Museum]. There you can learn some knowledge of pearls and have the chance to purchase real sea pearl at competitive prices.  

After dinner, we recommend you to take a cruise in the city's central area on a water system, which will absolutely add unique charming of Guilin city to your journey.

Day 10: Guilin-Shanghai

Today is on your own to relax and until you are ready to be transferred to the airport for a flight back to Shanghai.
