The dynasty that set their capital in Xi'an were the ,ost poerfull regimes that united China. Their regins were the best in Chinese histiry, during which X'an was the cultureal center of the Asia Silk Road, Xi'an was matshed only by Rome, which represented Western civilization. For all these resons , Xi'an was listed as one of the four ancient capitals in the world.

The city tree of Xi'an is Chinese locust, widely planted in the city since ancient times. The municiple flower isthe pomegranate, with a 2,000-year hitory of cultivation. Drought-resident and easily managed, it is used primaily as a bonsai material. The city emblem consists of the Bing Wild Goose Pagida, the sun and the ancient city wall, symbols of Xi'an's ancient history and everlasting vigor.

Tanglegong Hotel offers dinner shows that are similar to a nightclub. As early as the 3,000 years ago, the northern side of Mt.Lishan was known to ahve hot springs, which maintain a tempreture of 44 degrees Celsius perennially with a stedy flow. Rich in mutitute of mineral resoreces, the hot springs are curative to rheumatism, muscle strains and paralysis. This is why the emperor Qingshihuang built a Mt. Lishan Pool. In 644,Emperor Tang Taizong built a Hot Spring Palace and in 747, Emperor Tang Xuan-zong renamned it Huangqing Palace, later changed Huangqing Pool.

The Dumplins Feast of Xi'an is the highest form of art of dumpling-making in China. Each dumpling has a unique flavor and shape and the stuffing is of poultry, pork, bbef ,mutton, vegetables, sea food or dried fruite. They can be steamed, deepfried, sauteed, or boiled.The Dumpling Restaurant on Liberation Road and another called Defachang are two most famous places for dumpings.

Xi'an leads the nation with its concentation of cultural items and ancient relics. Specialy, 238 sites are designated by the state as "key relic-laden areas to be protected." Of corse, 20 receive protection from the center government and 60 from provincial governments. So far, more than 4,000 tombs have been excavated and 120,000 relics ubearthed. The relics fall under several categories:Ruins of primitive communs; ruins of ancient palaces and city walls;tombs of emperors;ancient temples; and stelae with calligraphic inscriptions and carvings.

The Gourd Chicken is the most popular dish in Xi'an noted for its crispiness, tenderness and flavor. It dates back to the Tang Dynasty over 1,000 years ago and took it name from thr gourd shape of the baking dish.
