Glacier No.1
120 kilometers away from south of city, the No.1 Glacier belongs to sightseeing site. It lies in Kalawuquntage Mountain near the Shengli Slope that is the middle section of the Tianshan Mountains, The altitude here is 4,800 meters, distributed gigantic modern glacier. There are fantastic and ploy post glacier landforms, Its three sides encircled hills like a vast bucket, so people called it glacier bucket, The snow doesn't thaw all the year round in the mountains which around the number one glacier.
The snow become thicker due to yearly accumulated. And at last it slide down, fell into the hollow of the glacier bucket, and become translucent pale-blue glacier. The west branch moves 27 meters downwards every year, and the east 11 meters downward. When the fronted, namely glacial tongue moves below the snow line, it melts. The melted snow water of the No.1 Glacier becomes the main original of Urumqi River.
