Memorial Hall of Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao
The Memorial to Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao is built in memory of premier Zhou En-lai and his wife, Deng Yingchao, and features photos, documents and dioramas of significant events in their lives. The museum is located near the Tianjin Water Park.
Zhou Enlai, a prominent founder of the Chinese Communist Party, went to school in Tianjin and is proudly claimed as a son of the city. He is revered as a hero of the revolution who stood up to extremists such as the Gang of Four. His wife, Deng Yingchao is also respected for her dedication to women's liberation. The museum is devoted to the history of their lives and lifelong partnership.
Situated in the entrance-hall are the white jade sitting statues of Zhou Enlai and his wife, Deng Yingchao.
The Memorial to Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao opened on February 28, 1998. It includes the Exhibition Hall, the Introduction Hall, the Feeling Hall, the Bamboo Engraving Couplet Hall and the Painting and Calligraphic Art Hall. The memorial and the Party Literature Research Center of the CPC central Committee jointly established the Research Center of Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao for branching out academic studies on their lives and thoughts and collecting their related varied publications, cultural relics and literatures in Chinese and foreign language. At present, it collects 8000-odd cultural relics, literatures and pictures, in which 100 are collectors.
