Getting There
By Air
Tianjin Binhai International Airport is located in Zhanggui Zhuang, Dongli District, about 13 kilometers (8 miles) away from the downtown area of Tianjin. With the ability to handle almost all types of aircrafts and accommodates more than 40 international and domestic airlines, it is the second biggest airport in Northern China second to the Capital International Airport in Beijing. Every week there are in excess of 400 flights to major domestic and international cities, including Japan, Korean, Thailand, Europe, Middle East, etc.
Regular shuttle buses to Binhai International Airport from downtown are available at No.113 Nanjing Lu in Heping District. Buses run between Binhai International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport depart every 30 minutes from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm. The whole journey takes more than two hours.
By Train
Being a very important railway junction terminal for the two main lines of Tianjin-Shandong and Tianjin-Shanghai, Tianjin owns four railway stations, namely, Tianjin Railway Station, Tianjin West Railway Station, Tianjin South Railway Station and Tianjin North Railway Station, of which the first two being the most important. Tianjin Railway Station is the biggest of the four and can accommodate ten thousand people in its waiting hall. Trains from this station reach more than forty domestic cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Xi’an, etc.
By Long-distance Bus
All the long-distance bus stations in Tianjin can also bring you convenience if you want to go in or out of Tianjin. Tianhuan Long-distance Bus Station in Nankai District is the most important one. Buses there are mainly destined for major cities in other provinces, such as Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Jiangxi, and so on. Other long-distance bus stations provide service to Tianjin's neighboring cities, especially those governed by Tianjin Municipality.
If you want to drive to Tianjin from Beijing, you can go along Jingjintang highway, one of the finest highways throughout China. The whole journey will take you only one and a half hours; both fast and convenient!

By Sea
Tianjin Xingang (Tianjin Port) is the biggest man-made port within China and is a must if you decide to come to Tianjin by ship. Its domestic sea routes are to Yantai, Dalian and Longkou; while its international routes are to Inchon in Korea (every Thursday and Saturday) and Honshu in Japan (every Monday). During high tourism seasons, there are passenger liners from Japan and Europe arriving in Tianjin Xingang.
Getting Around
Public City Bus
Tianjin city-bus system consists of school bus routes, special sight-seeing routes and regular routes which include inner city and suburban lines. The inner city bus route costs CNY1 for twelve kilometers (about 7.5 miles) or less and CNY1.5 for more. The suburb line costs CNY1 for the first ten kilometers (about 6.2 miles) and CNY0.5 for each extra five kilometers (about 3.1 miles).
Light Rail
Tianjin light railway is considered as the longest throughout China with two departure stations, the light rail centers in Zhongshan Men and the Development Zone. The departure interval is fifteen minutes and the entire distance will take forty minutes and costs CNY6.
Subway
As an extension of the original line, Tianjin Metro Line 1 starts from the junction of Nanjing Lu and Xinhua Lu and passes through six districts, Beichen, Hongqiao, Nankai, Heping, Hexi and Jinnan. Metro Line 1 runs every fifteen minutes from 5:30 to 22:30. The whole journey will take about twelve minutes and cost only CNY1.
Taxi
Taxies in Tianjin cover brands from Xiali, Santana to Jetta or others at or around airport, railway station, hotels and tourist attractions. The flat rate fare is CNY8 for all taxi types; while the distance surcharge varies from CNY1.5–2 per additional kilometer according to the make of taxi. If the taxi stops altogether for five minutes, for any reason, the passenger will have to pay a surcharge equivalent to the distance surcharge for each additional kilometer.
