Tongli Town
Tongli, an ancient town with a history more than 1000 years, is praised as an ancient town on water for it is surrounded by clear and peaceful water. Covering about 330,000 m2, this famous ancient town is circled by five lakes, just as a pearl inlaying into a crown. Amazingly, 15 streams linking the lakes separate this ancient town into seven islands, between which there are 49 bridges as connection. This natural water net looks like shinning galaxy, on which boats shuttle back and forth, forming a harmonious scene. Thus, Tongli is reputed as the Oriental Venice.
Built next to the Hangzhou-Beijing Grand Channel and Lake Tai, Tongli has many natural edges, therefore it is in the number of the Land of Milk and Honey in the south area of Yangtze River. In this small ancient town, there are more than 20 natural sceneries and a lot of ancient architectures built in different dynasties, including 38 gardens and 47 temples. In addition to the architectures, Tongli is abundant in celebrities. In the ancient dynasties, more than 100 celebrities, including poets, calligraphers, painters, economists and ministers, lived here.
In this beautiful ancient town, the pure and simple customs and festivals may the outstanding points in your expedition. All the year round, there are festivals celebrated in each month, like temple fairs, boat race and water lanterns etc.

Half fare for the students and the people over 60 but less than 70
Free for the disabled, the soldiers, the kids under 1.2 meters and the people over 70

Transportation: Shuttle Buses from Shanghai and Suzhou to Tongli are available. Inside the town, the boats are easy to get.
