Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum
The Museum is situated opposite the Chongqing People's Hall. It is not only the largest monographic museum, but is also a public undertaking for the preservation, education, scientific research in respect of cultural relics and the natural environment of Chongqing and the Three Gorges area. The exhibition hall covers an area of 23,000 square meters. The museum has a collection of more than 170,000 items.
Six Special Exhibitions:
Cultural Relics Exhibition donated by Mr. Li Chuli: The exhibition includes a variety of cultural relics donated by late distinguished collector- Mr. Li Chuli.
Ancient Chinese calligraphy and painting Exhibition: more than 100 works are chosen out of 10,000 works from Southern song Dynasty to Republic of China, 170 plus works are graded as first class culture relics.
Ancient Ceramics Exhibition: more than 200 pieces are chosen from a collection of 8,000 ceramics in all ages.
Exhibition of Chinese Currency in all ages: The currency on display ranges from shell money in ancient times to RMB in modern times.
Southwestern Folk Custom Exhibition: The exhibition mainly consists of daily necessity and handicrafts for southwestern ethnic groups.
Three Gorges Circular-screen film: The film will tell you about the scenery and life in Three Gorges area before Three Gorges Dam Project is completed. It is the permanent memory for old Three Gorges. The film will be played intermittently.
