White River(Baishui River)

White River, also called Baishui River,originates from the Jade Dragon Snow Mt., is a crystal-like river formed by the melted ices from the mountain. People ever come to here may be impressed by the running limpid water that is filtrated by the rocks on its way down along the hills side. Trees grow along either side of the riverbed while a little further away snow-capped peaks stand imposingly against the sky. It is possible to travel upriver either on foot or by horseback from here.

Far away from pollution, White River, forming waterfalls of various sizes along its way down from the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, is a good place for adventure. Taking a break in the virgin forest when tired and having a sip of the pure water from the White River can be an extraordinary experience.

If your tour schedule falls on the folk festivals, it will be pretty funny and exciting for you to get the chance of joining the local people in the celebrations of the Torch Festival celebrated on 24th of lunar June and other such interesting events as horse race, wrestling and god-worship ceremony.
