What do the Cantonese do at night?
For the young, they prefer to go to the pubs, bars, disco or KTV to relax by drinking, dancing, yelling and singing or go to the cinema to enjoy the latest popular blockbuster.
For the old, they would like to go to the plazas or parks to practice the Cantonese Opera (Yue Ju), social dancing and singing the songs they loved when they were young.
For both young and old, the Pearl River area is a good place to go. Here, you will impress on the graceful Pearl River shinning under the neo-light. Besides, the tea house is the traditional place for entertainment and relaxing both day and night.
Evening Cruise on the Pearl River
Pearl River Night Cruise is an impressive sightseeing in Guangzhou. The Pearl River consists of three branches and the confluence is marvelously beautiful under the shining of the neon lights at night, so tourist like to enjoy the nightlife on boat at night rather than by day.
There are 8 sightseeing spots along the Chinese third longest river called 'Yang Cheng Eight", namely Red Hills Rising Sun, Sea Beads Loyalty, Yuexiu View, Shuangqiao Mountain Misty Rain, East Lake Chunxiao, Baiyun Songtao etc. It takes 2 hours to travel along the 2129 meters long river to enjoy all the sightseeings.

Tianzi Dock in the Yuexiu District: Take bus No. 1, 54, 57, 64, 183, 194, 219, and 281 to get there directly.
Xidi Dock in west River Road: Take bus No. 31, 38, 181, 186, 202, 217, 219, 227, 251, 236, 239, 288, 281, 527, 538, 541, 556 and 823 to get there directly.
Dashatou Dock in the east River Road: Take bus No. , 12, 18, 36, 44, 57, 61, 80, 89, 125, 128, 131, 182, 184, 188, 192, 194, 208, 277, 287, 543 and 546 to get there directly.

Bars are of a growing importance in the Cantonese life. At night, the bars are one of the busiest places. Bars in Guangzhou assemble in three famous bar streets, the Binjiang Road Bar Street, Huanshi Road Bar Street and Bai’e Tan Bar Street. Cantonese Opera (Yue Ju)
As one of the 10 famous operas, the Cantonese opera is popular in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hong Kong and Macau. The actors perform the dialogue and singing in Cantonese, which is the biggest difference from the Peking Opera. The voices rise and fall in ever changing rhymes, and the melodies are harmonious and graceful.
Cantonese Opera is also the most popular opera in the south China, for the people of Guangdong Province and large parts of Guangxi region were mainly Cantonese speaker.
