Longyan Ancient Temple
Longyan Ancient Temple, located in the north of Longshi Mountain to the south of Wangmuyu, was built in Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). There is an amazingly huge rock with a width of 20 m and thickness of 3 m, reaching out from the mountain, where the name Longyan (Dragon Rock) is derived from.
In addition to the huge rock, there are some other mysterious scenic spots around the Longyan Ancient Temple. The ancient well in front of the ancient temple has experienced more than 100 years’ history, from where the spring tastes sweet and cool. A 10-meter-tall status of Guanyin, a goddess in Buddhism, makes the temple more holy and live, while the splendid and magnificent 40-meter-tall pagoda makes the temple shinning and amazing.
Longyan Ancient Temple, constructed on the terrain of natural slope, consists of three rooms and two courtyards with three gates. On the front gate of the temple, there is a granite board inscribed with four Chinese characters 'Long Yan Gu Si', meaning Longyan Ancient Temple in English. Shadows of towering old trees and fragrance of the blooming flowers provide a peaceful and harmonious circumstance for the ancient temple.
